Bachelor in Pharmacy (B Pharm)

This is an undergraduate degree in the field of pharmacy. Obtaining this degree allows students to practice as pharmacists. The field entails learning the properties and the impact of medicines. As graduates, our students will have the skills to improve the well-being of their patients and thus save lives.

Intake: 100 Seats

Duration: Four academic years (full time), with each academic year divided into two semesters.

Evaluation

The credit allotted for each semester are as follows:​

  • A student’s academic performance is evaluated according to a letter grading system based on Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) and Semester End Examinations (SEE).
  • The overall performance of a student will be indicated by two indices - SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average), and CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average). SGPA is calculated on the basis of course credit and grade point of all courses in that semester. CGPA is cumulative in nature.

Degree Requirement

To obtain the B Pharm degree, a student needs to fulfil the following requirements:

  1. Minimum earned credits to obtain the degree is 201 with a CGPA of not less than 4.5. Each semester is designed with an average of 25 credits.
  2. The minimum duration for a student for complying with the Degree requirement is FOUR academic years from the date of first registration for his/her first semester.
  3. The maximum duration for a student for complying with the Degree requirement is EIGHT academic years from the date of first registration for his/her first semester

Bachelor in Pharmacy (B Pharm) - Lateral Entry

Students who have completed their D Pharm get direct entry into the 3rd semester of the B Pharm course.

Intake: 10% of total intake

Duration: Three academic years (full time), with each academic year divided into two semesters.

Master in Pharmacy (M PHARM)

GIPS offers a Master study programme in Pharmacy.

Intake: 15 Seats

Duration: 2 academic years (full time), with each academic year divided into two semesters.

Evaluation

The credits allotted for each semester are as follows:

  • A student’s academic performance is evaluated according to a letter grading system based on Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) and Semester End Examinations (SEE).
  • The overall performance of a student will be indicated by two indices - SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average), and CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average). SGPA is calculated on the basis of course credit and grade point of all courses in that semester. CGPA is cumulative in nature.
  • Each student should clear, with P or a better grade, at least 100 credits to be eligible for the M Pharm degree.
  • The 1st and 2nd semesters’ examination will consist of theory and practical examination. The 3rd and 4th semesters will be evaluated by project work.
  • A midterm project examination will be conducted at the end of 3rd semester and final project examination will be conducted at the end of 4th semester, after the completion of project work.

Minimum earned credits to obtain the degree is 74 with a CGPA of not less than 4.5

PH.D. in Pharmacy

GIPS is offering Ph.D course in the field of Pharmaceutics specialization affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU), Assam. All the rules and regulations of the Ph.D program is following as per the university regulation.
